Boat holidays: discover the coast of the Mediterranean from the sea, between famous and less known destinations.

The Mediterranean, a favorite destination for tourist from all over the word, is a paradise that is easy to fall in love with.

The US magazine Forbes has drawn up a very particular ranking concerning the Bel Paese, five destinations to take a dip not only in wonderful waters but also in history.

Cefalù.

The list, in alphabetical order, opens with Cefalù, a renowned town in Sicily.

On the north coast of our largest island, Cefalù is a peculiar seaside village, easily reachable by boat from Palermo, which is about 70 km away, more or less 38 nautical miles.

The medieval historic center is dominated by the Duomo, an 11th century Norman cathedral which has splendid Byzantine mosaics inside and the two imposing twin towers outside.

Fasano.

The list continues with the Apulian town of Fasano, in the province of Brindisi but located in the center of an ideal triangle formed by the cities of Bari, Brindisi and Taranto, all 50 km away and marking the border between Salento and Bari.

We then return to the Sicily of Magna Graecia for the splendid Syracuse, a maritime city on the Sicilian Ionian coast.

Fascinating and evocative, it shows at every corner the testimonies of its past, the Greek, Roman and Baroque influences blend making it unique.

Unesco World Heritage Site since 2005 it has a suggestive natural harbor, closed to the east by the island of Ortigia and behind it from the Epipolis plateau. Siracusa.

In the square of Syracuse there are the ruins of the Temple of Apollo, in Doric style, from the 6th century BC. and then the Neapolis district with the remains of the Greek theater, the Roman amphitheater and the altar of Gerone. Among the beaches to visit there are Arenella and Fontane Bianche.
