Tropea is the "Borgo dei Borghi" of Italy! A Top destination for your boat holidays!

Tropea, the Pearl of the Tyrrhenian Sea was voted  as the Borgo dei Borghi d'Italia, the most beautiful village of Italy.

Among the 260 beautiful villages in the race, of which 20 finalists, the small Calabrian town in the province of Vibo Valentia has been elected as the most beautiful village.

A prestigious award for the coastal town of Vibonese, jewel of the Costa degli Dei, the Gods coast.

Positioned between the Gulf of Gioia and the Gulf of Sant'Eufemia, it is a natural and panoramic terrace overlooking the sea, known for its white beaches, caves and crystal clear waters.

Tropea has a millenary history. Legend says it that it was founded by Hercules, when returning from one of its epic labors, took a rest on this stretch of the Tyrrhenian coast of Calabria.

Thanks to its happy and privileged position, it was a very important center and port in Roman times.

Conquered many times over the centuries, it prospered strongly in norman times but also later under Aragonese.

Nowadays the most important economic activity, not only of Tropea but of the whole territory, is certainly linked to tourism.

A territory that happily combines the many natural wonders and the enormous cultural heritage.

The small historic center, located on a cliff overlooking the sea, has a splendid view of the coast and the Aeolian Islands, Stromboli and Vulcano are clearly visible, as well as Sicily and the volcano Etna. Breathtaking views and noble palaces among the small squares and lay streets overlooking the beautiful beach below, the same beach that in 2007 was elected by The Sunday Times among the 20 most beautiful beaches in Europe.

The historic center is of great interest, not only the Diocesan Museum and the Norman Cathedral, but above all the suggestive Sanctuary of Santa Maria dell'Isola with its splendid Mediterranean garden and the wonderful panoramic view of the entire coast.

Tropea and nautical tourism.

At the foot of the beautiful fortress is the small port equipped with services, comfort and safety, with its 600 berths that can accommodate from smaller boats to large yacths up to 55 meters.

The port of Tropea is in the area called the Marina. From Tropea to Capo Vaticano, up to the ancient fishery of Sant'Irene, there are many excursions to do by boat to discover a unique territory and characterized by coves of white sand, crystal clear water, sheer cliffs, lagoons, caves, waterfalls and also the ruins of an ancient Port and a Roman Murenario. The surrounding areas such as Pizzo Calabro, Capo Vaticano, Parghelia, Ricadi, Briatico and Zambrone are beautiful.

Tropea is also the ideal starting port for several itineraries; you can go up the east coast  towards Vibo Marina, with its beautiful equipped port; or sail west towards Cape Vaticano; while sailing to the South West you can easily reach the Aeolian Islands which are only 15 nautical miles away, about thirty km away.

As a family, as a couple or as a group, renting a boat in Tropea will allow you to live an unforgettable holiday.

Renting a boat allows you to practice  many activities  such as snorkeling, bathing in natural pools or enjoying a breathtaking sunset overlooking the Stromboli.
